December 2022: Local Board Member Report

Penlink sod turning

It was a pleasure to be at the sod turning for O Mahurangi - Penlink this month.

O Mahurangi – Penlink is part of the NZ Upgrade Programme and is a vital connection for North Auckland linking Whangaparāoa Peninsula with the wider region.

It will form a vital transport link as more people live and work in Silverdale, Whangaparāoa and the Hibiscus Coast. While we pushed hard for four-lanes, the two-lane road and shared walking and cycling path will provide improved travel times for those living in and visiting our beautiful peninsula.

Lovely to hear Janet Fitzgerald give a speech about the hard work she and the Penlink Now team have put in to see today a reality. With 3 decades of advocacy, it was a truly special occasion for them particularly.
